Disney's Frozen vs. Anderson's Snow Queen
Most people have seen the movie Frozen by Disney, but do you know how it actually started? Most Disney movies are created from old fairy tales from different cultures. For instance, Cinderella is based off a story also called Cinderella by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. Frozen was based off of The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Anderson.
Frozen, which came out in 2013, is about Elsa, a queen with ice powers, freezing Arendelle, a kingdom. Anna and Kristoff then have to set off on a journey to find Elsa to restore Arendelle.
The Snow Queen, which was released in 1844, is about two kids, Gerda and Kay, who are best friends. Then one day Kay gets a part of an evil mirror stuck in his eye, turns mean and goes to the Snow Queen. Gerda goes to look for Kay and finally finds him in the Snow Queen's palace, shivering and cold. The Kay cries so hard that the piece of the evil mirror falls out and he turns nice again. Then they return home and live happily ever after.
This is a coincidence because Hans, Kristoff, Anna, and Sven's names come from the author of The Snow Queen's name, Hans Christian Andersen. Personally, I like The Snow Queen more than Frozen because it is original and it is much more exciting. That is my thought. What do you think?
