The Science of The Dress

The Dress.jpg

The colors of the dress change according to peoples perspective.

The blue and black or white and gold dress took over the Internet with its scientific properties.

Three months ago the infamous blue and black dress had the whole internet wondering how different people really were. "The Dress"'s original color was blue and black but, because the way the picture was taken it could also be seen as white and gold. Some scientists have proven how this act worked. They have proven that it is just visual perception. This is one of the scientists who proved this.

This scientist is Michael Webster, a psychologist from the University of Nevada, Reno. He blamed Dressgate on the ambiguity of the color blue, and people’s inability to reliably discern blue you objects from blue lighting. He asked college students whether they saw the dresses stripes as blue or white. Webster also said that blue tends to be tricky when it comes to visual perception.

When the team inverted the colors of the dress, the blue/white stripes became unambiguous shades of yellow, and nearly 95 percent of the students identified the dress as yellow and black.

To conclude, this is one way scientists have proven how visual perception fooled the Internet.
